I first heard this song when I watched the movie Prince Caspian several months back. Aside from feeling sad that Susan and Peter were banned from coming back to Narnia, the lyrics caught my attention:
It started out as a feeling
Which then grew into a hope
Which then turned into a quiet thought
Which then turned into a quiet word
I’ll come back
When you call me
No need to say goodbye
Â
Heard it again just a few minutes ago, sang by friends I met 500 kms and 5 years distant…when we were challenged to keep the faith and heed the call. Timely, because I ‘ve been thinking of two things these past weeks: calling and friendship.
And then that word grew louder and louder
‘Til it was a battle cry
Just because everything’s changing
Doesn’t mean it’s never
Been this way before
Â
Things have changed a lot in the past half decade. Yet I still have the familiar feeling of being at a crossroads…. especially about my calling. Just when I have come to accept it, another question or doubt pops up. Making a choice just means that you have to make more decisions, it seems.
Â
All you can do is try to know
Who your friends are
As you head off to the war
Pick a star on the dark horizon
And follow the light
You’ll come back
When it’s over
No need to say good byeÂ
Â
What keeps me sane is the knowledge that I am not alone in my confusion. And the assurance that I am involved in something that would last for eternity.Â
Now we’re back to the beginning
It’s just a feeling and no one knows yet
But just because they can’t feel it too
Doesn’t mean that you have to forget
Â
I am learning that passion cannot be taught or forced. All you can do is try to awaken it in others by sharing your own.
You’ll come back
When they call you
No need to say good byeÂ
Let your memories grow stronger and stronger
‘Til they’re before your eyesÂ
Â
I have learned that memories are among my most valued possessions. That people come and go for a reason… thus I  have learned the art of letting go gracefully, then picking up where we left off years later. Â
You’ll come back
When they call you
No need to say good byeÂ
